Paper Abstract:
|
Wireless technology is an extension and adaptation of existing applications on laptop computers. This research aims to build a prototype system that supports the transference of existing Web-based database applications into the wireless handheld environment. The system uses a meta specification approach to eliminate programming work. The user need only define the application interface and dataflow requirements of the application as instances of a server database. The system envisioned is called a meta-composer and will automatically compose such interfaces, together with application database instances, as client applications on the mobile handheld devices such as smart phones and wireless PDAs. The value added by this meta-composer is its ability to provide application schema within the database site itself, thus enabling content creators to make changes and to ensure that the database application can coexist with the Web application. This paper summarizes fundamental concept and development status of the proposed meta-composer system. |
