Paper Abstract:
|
Drawing from the telemedicine literature, in this paper we introduce the concept of virtual medical communities - the sort of communities that enable geographically-dispersed medical experts to get together and share their knowledge in order to improve health care provision. The argument is developed in the paper that virtual medical communities when developed to communities of practice lead to greater effectiveness in knowledge sharing and creation and ultimately to the sustainability of telemedicine applications. In the paper, we introduce the key theoretical propositions that underline this study. |
