Paper Abstract:
|
Generating abstract dynamic Web user interfaces for Web applications is a very complicated task. Making use of
potential data held in database systems seems to be a promising approach to generate dynamic Web user interfaces. In
this paper, we aim to investigate how and to what extent we can use metadata held in system catalogue tables in database
in conjunction with XML technology and its surrounding technologies to produce an abstract representation for user
interface elements. Java and XML are the most successful technologies in building Web application due to their
portability. XML may do for data what Java is doing for programming. Making use of combination of JDBC with these
technologies is a promised solution to generate Web user interfaces for Web applications on fly. This multidisciplinary
approach will eliminate the need to re-write or re-compile the system in case of minor changes are needed and push the
mentioned task many steps forward. |
