Paper Abstract:
|
Knowing early the accident falling down of an elderly person would help the emergency service team to response quickly, which could decrease the life-threating risks in such situation. However, most of currently utilized solutions (e.g., monitoring through cameras or robots) have some limitations, like unavailability in all situations or privacy of data. Targeting this concern, we utilize the accelerometer sensor in current mobile devices to determine whether an elderly person has fallen accidentally. We decide this through our three-state model (i.e., the free-fall state, the hitting-reaction state, and the idle state) that we determine through the variation of accelerometer sensors values in the underlying mobile device. |
