Paper Abstract:
|
The paper focuses on presenting systematic design techniques for processing hierarchical structures: we deal with representation and data selection techniques, as well as with processing ones. We comparatively present these methods and discuss their run-time efficiency based on a specific benchmark. A dedicated analysis addresses means of implementing simplification and equivalence algorithms on data structures based on modular entities. The paper also deals with methods for optimizing database access based on log processing. Case studies are performed on AcademicInfo system that we have designed and implemented. We reveal the advantages of using parameterized stored procedures and MS SQL WITH statement in processing hierarchic structures and in modeling equivalence algorithms at database level. |
