Paper Abstract:
|
Context-aware computing is a widespread research area. Although context-aware applications adapt to the current situation of users, they usually do not consider the past actions performed by them in the contexts visited in the past. In the literature, this history of events is, usually, called Trail. Some authors have already shown that trails contribute to improve the inferences in context-aware environments because applications use an additional information source, which is more complete. On the other hand, in the current business scenario companies consider, as one of the main competitive advantages, the competences of their workers, thereby attaching great importance to the professionals and to the management of their competences. To help in the process of evaluating competences, this work proposes the use of trails to manage the workers competences. Nonetheless, we did not find any work that takes into account their trails to manage their competences. We believe that through the history of the users activities (for example, accessed contents and attended lectures) it would be possible to automatically detect the competences that people have, thus allowing to evaluate which need to be evolved and acquired to achieve specific goals. To reach this objective, we integrated two systems, one dedicated to the management of trails and the other focused on the management of workers competences. |
