Paper Abstract:
|
Nursing education includes practical application of theoretical content. This paper discusses the applicability of virtual case studies as compared to written case studies in didactic nursing courses to enhance the theory-to-practice connection. Ninety-seven sophomore nursing students in an undergraduate Pharmacology course were assigned to complete three virtual case studies and three written case studies. After completion of the assignments, students were asked to complete a questionnaire that surveyed their perception of the applicability of virtual case studies in nursing education. Survey results indicate high student satisfaction and learning when using virtual case studies. However, results were mixed when comparing virtual case studies to traditional case studies in improving critical thinking and preparation for patient care |
