Paper Abstract:
|
Researchers have found that existing ICT support systems for collaborative teams lack impact in real-world
organisations. Consequently, they believe that understanding collaborative team processes is a prerequisite to developing
effective support systems. This paper presents our attempt to develop this understanding. By presenting a summary of an
empirical study on a collaborative research team in action, we show that by nature, such work is creative and
opportunistic in nature. We also discuss the implications of this study and suggest that a contingency, toolbox-based
approach as a way forward to support collaborative teams. |
