Paper Abstract:
|
Up till now the majority of empirical studies concerning the information society (IS) have focused on three fields: infrastructure, its use and indispensable skills. The possible broader socio-economic relationships have been explored less frequently. This is, at least in part, due to the challenges involved in measuring such interactions. The issue that seems particularly important in the formation of the IS is the level of social capital. The article attempts to analyze the relationship between IS and social capital using the example of the formerly communist countries of Central and Eastern Europe. |
