Paper Abstract:
|
The Building Information Modelling (BIM) methodology has been applied in multi-tasks throughout a building life cycle. Its basic concept concerns the generation of a virtual model that allows centralizing and recording all the information produced in projecting, constructing and maintaining a building. The establishment of maintenance strategies requires a sustained knowledge regarding the durability of the materials and the costs involved. The research, elaborated in an academic context, is focused on the prediction of useful life, applied to materials most used as finishing of wall facades and roof terraces. A building case was analyzed considering the generation of the respective BIM model and the application of Dynamo scripts. Two scripts were created to support the estimation of the useful life of the materials, allowing professionals to obtain the lifetime of the components and to predict their state of degradation for a given year. The developed approach, allows engineers, in an early design stage, to prepare adequate maintenance plans, based on the knowledge of durability, useful lifetime and the degradation perdition of the materials. The work contributes positively to the implementation of BIM in the maintenance activity, with relevance to the high potential of the Dynamo tool when information management within BIM models is required. The proposed framework presents a novelty in the use of Revit+Dynamo in the support, in a visual perception, on the maintenance of a building. |
