Paper Abstract:
|
The focus of this paper is to examine narratives of ICT discourse. This is approached in two ways. First, we discuss the emergence of official Information Society discourse and how this way of describing use has permeated into domestic users accounts of their personal use/consumption and experience of ICTs. Second, we then address how respondents employ more subjective tones to describe their use, especially when describing how the ICT has fitted into their lives. Our aim is to disentangle user discourse (objective and subjective narratives) to interpret the ways people speak about ICTs in their everyday lives. |
