Paper Abstract:
|
In the last years, ontologies have left slowly the restricted scope of academic applications to reach the industry, what demanded the creation of novel development approaches. Thus, developers have been inspired by Software Engineering (SE) due of its long term successful practices. However, despite the overlapping topics, software engineers are not aware about Ontology Engineering (OE) practices and challenges, and ontologists do not benefit sufficiently from the SE approaches. In this paper we overview some initiatives in OE influenced by SE and highlight the current problems in the OE approaches, which harms a larger acceptance by the market. To contribute to this scenario, we provide recommendations to enlighten its possible solutions and to advise the software engineers in finding niches to carry promising researches. |
