Paper Abstract:      There are two conflicting facts about the so-called “information society” in Greece. The first is that the population of internet users has grown considerably in size breaking the 30% barrier of the country’s population. Furthermore, it is worth noting that nowadays broadband connectivity has become all the more attractive to constantly increasing numbers of them. The second reality, conflicting to the first, is that it is common knowledge to everyone in the country that local eCommerce activity is stagnant. Past studies have shown that Greek companies’ executives have a very good understanding and appreciation of the role of internet in their everyday business activities. On the other hand, the digital consumers do not seem quite appreciative of the online presences of the local companies. This pilot study attempted to shed some light into the question of whether the online businesses in the country are (or not) systematically monitoring their web sites’ visitors in an effort to make those necessary changes that will make the sites attractive. The instrument of choice for the study was decided to be a short interview of a small but representative sample of web designers. The results proved the hypothesis correct, that is, the businesses employing web designers to build up their on-line presence are almost not at all interested about the web logs analysis most often provided as a service included in the usual price of the web site design and maintenance.
