Paper Abstract:
|
This paper addresses an important problem of e-security, which is a growing concern of many government departments, business organizations and individuals. The existing intrusion detection systems have a number of problems: inability to detect totally unknown attacks, too many false positives, and slow response time. We have proposed and developed a more efficient intrusion detection system, which detects in real time, not only known attacks but also totally new attacks as they enter the system rather than after the intruder had done the damage. The proposed system is based on a neural network with back propagation algorithm. A number of experiments were conducted on the DARPA data sets and sample results and detailed analysis are reported here. |
