Paper Abstract:
|
User participation emerged as a critical factor for the web development process to confirm that websites are successful and easy to implement, since user participation can lead to improved web quality and increased user acceptance and satisfaction. Furthermore, it will encourage users to participate and contribute in decision making and engaging in activities during the development process. This type of participation will reduce the time taken in various stages, namely testing, evaluation, implementation and training, as users will become more knowledgeable with regard to the website. This paper aims to include user participation in the web development process in the future, from the beginning until the end of the process, so as to ensure that the resulting website will be useful, friendly, practical, and workable. This paper presents experience from an online survey which was carried out in Australia and Portugal to examine if user participation is essential and crucial in the web development process. The 160 respondents from Australia and Portugal indicated and confirmed that user participation is critical in the web development process in order to facilitate the success of the website, ease acceptance and boost satisfaction. |
