Paper Abstract:
|
The purpose of this paper is to explore the interactions and impacts of user behaviors (UB) and business policies (BP) on Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system-controlled environment. The impacts are analyzed from the perspectives of operational performance, data quality, and social aspect of users. Participant observation has been conducted for duration of 3 months to collect relevant information on the issue. The findings indicate that human negligence and cumbersome procedure potentially lead to the violation of data integrity. Apart of that, the findings also implies that ERP context influences user by imposing constraints to agility and flexibility of tasks, impedes labor productivity by imposing considerable amount of manual tasks, and reduces social interactions of users. The study provides insight into interrelationships between user behavior, business policies, and ERP-controlled environment which invoke awareness of practitioners on problems that might detract the ERP adoption. In addition, this study provides the foundation for further investigation in post-implementation phase of ERP, such as the social-psychological impacts of ERP context on end-users, interactions of operational-level activities with ERP context, and trainings and education on larger scope of ERP context rather than ERP system training. |
