Paper Abstract:
|
This paper describes a collaborative project funded to develop an open source electronic portfolio (eportfolio) for use in
higher education. The objective was to develop an eportfolio application for the New Zealand tertiary sector, to conduct a
number of implementation cases studies and provide guidelines for its effective use. A brief account of the literature on
eportfolios is provided along with core principles underpinning the design of the Mahara eportfolio. The unique features
of Mahara are outlined and the paper offers an example of how one university has conceptualized the implementation
around the pillars of learning, and is planning to fully embed eportfolios in an initial teacher education program. |
