Paper Abstract:

Information systems architect should have an aptitude for business domain analysis. To instruct such competence,
Conceptual Data Modeling also known as Entity-Relationship (E-R) Modeling is effective, which is a key method for
getting a handle on the business requirements of an organization. Thus, in the professional master course program of
information systems architecture of our university, to produce advanced information systems architects we have lectured
students on the method in an actual business domain. In this paper, we discuss effectiveness of the education and analyze
the process in transition of models which were described by the students in the lecture. The education process is certainly
useful for consensus building of a business domain among stakeholders through the collaborative work of the modeling. |
