Paper Abstract:
|
AIs vital aim is to build machines that will mimic human intelligence. The research in automatic summarization is
carried out using a combination of AI and linguistics knowledge, where programs which perform summarization have
been developed. In fact, with the ever-increasing volume of information available, information access becomes more an
issue of providing, only the relevant information, when it is required and in a form in which it can be used quickly. In the
financial market, for example, information has a crucial role or in other words it is the driving force. The information
about the world events is an important indicator for the market fluctuations. All these events are presented daily through a
variety of media, namely Reuters, Bloomberg and Dow Jones. Several thousands of pieces of information about these
events are delivered every day to the investors desktop. And it is his task to collect, filter, understand and react to reports
about these types of event. To overcome problems associated with overwhelming volumes of data, we developed an
automatic text summarisation system called SummariserPort that reduces the volumes of information that need to be
processed by the investor or the trader. Our summarization approach is robust and was entered in an international
competition for automatic summarization programs with encouraging results. |
