Paper Abstract:
|
Electronic Commerce includes all online transactions from business to consumer (B2C) and from business to business (B2B). B2C is implemented in many web applications however; B2B is implemented in small numbers in Turkey and World. Because every businesss data transfer and data processing techniques are different from each other. Thus, B2B needs some standard techniques which needs a lot of integrated working efforts. In other words, to link separate systems and operate as if they were a single entity, the businesses should understand their messaging and data processing techniques in order to implement B2B. International organizations have been developing many standards to handle the problem of interoperability. Among them XML-based solutions provide more flexible and efficient frameworks such as eCo and BizTalk. To design a simple B2B electronic commerce system, to deal with the difficulties in B2B application development, to design workflows and to describe messaging structure we developed electronic commerce system between government which is Turkish Air Force Commandant (TUAF) as buyer and three seller firms; Seller1, Seller2, Seller3 as seller. TUAF can create purchase of order request, convert purchase of order request to purchase of order, send purchase of order to three seller firms, save the proposals of three seller firms in its database, choose the cheapest proposal, create order and send it to the firm chosen. Meanwhile each seller firm can take purchase of order, create its own proposal and send it to the TUAF. Then the firm chosen by TUAF, can receive the order and send its invoice to TUAF. This B2B e-commerce application is implemented in Microsoft BizTalk Server 2000. In this paper it is also shown that the more businesses in B2B model, the more complicated it becomes. Many businesses claim that they can develop B2B solutions by using B2B tools in one or two months but we can not value this way of thinking. In a B2B application, one simple order process necessitates 10 to 20 processes automation. If you plan to develop a B2B application, firstly you should learn about B2B technologies and B2B application tools. Secondly you should develop workflow models that can automate, control and administer the complicated processes in B2B applications. For these reasons, you should understand all B2B technologies perfectly in order to model B2B applications successfully. The simple XML schemes and a universal item catalogue designed in this work can be developed and used in the future commercial activities, in Turkey. If our businesses register their methods in UDDI, we may locate businesses in internet so our B2B model becomes dynamic model. Our buying decision can be improved and a wider marketplace having many buyer-many seller firms can be modelled in the future. In real life, Turkish Air Force Academy does not buy goods over the internet. By implementing this B2B application, we showed only the feasibility of B2B. |
