Paper Abstract:
|
There is a type of surface generation method among CAD processes which is very important for creation and for visualization of gear surfaces, this is the surface enveloping by surface. Though quick analytical methods also exist, the modeling of real surface requires discrete numerical simulation of the enveloping process. The reason is the different forms of undercuts that may appear when the generating surface creates a region of the modeled surface. The paper presents a new compressor type which has a rotor that needs precise surface finishing. The applied special grinding machine patented by the author applies a unique grinding wheel generated by the rotor surface. The applied software uses the original surface generating theory of the author. Beside the applied generating algorithm which is presented in detailed form the software provides a novel undercut visualization and detection capability which is a natural consequence of the applied surface generating theory. |
