Paper Abstract:      Energy harvesting in wireless mesh networks (WMNs) has become an important mechanism to alleviate the problem of excessive energy consumption in WMNs. This paper outlines a new protocol to actively transmit and harvest electromagnetic energy from radio frequency (RF) signals transmitted in WMNs. The models used conform with IEEE 802.15.4 at the frequencies of 868MHz, 915MHz and 2.4GHz respectively with corresponding BPSK or O-QPSK modulations. The simulation results show that theoretically it could extend the battery life of a node infinitely by using this active RF energy harvesting mechanism.
