Paper Abstract:      Institutions (companies or organizations) due to the high level of complexity of their processes and the need to expand competitive advantages make use of Management Information Systems (MIS) to give their managers correct and immediate information for decision-making. Specifically, federal universities, that search for other objectives (quality, efficiency in their final area - education) also depend on these same MIS to achieve their management objectives. However, the lack of data systematization, lack of systems models, and a wide and complex decision-making structure make these institutions have difficulties in presenting their information correctly, unified, and standardized. From this context, this paper presents a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) on the implementation process of Business Intelligence (BI) in federal institutions of education with the premise of characterizing the information model contained in these institutions. As a methodology, a Systematic Review was established with an emphasis on three aspects: delimitation of the theme; review protocol and conducting the review. The results obtained in the analysis point towards the use of Big Data and Data Mining to support decision-making.
