Paper Abstract:
|
Computing technologies are embedded in our everyday objects and pervade business-, home- and leisure-environments. Together with wireless network infrastructures the access on arbitrary information services is enabled in any place, at any time. The high grade of freedom and the possibility to integrate context in information services provide an infrastructure for new mobile e-Business applications. The range of front-end devices is wide and varies from Laptop PCs and mobile Personal Digital Assistants to mobile phones but is not limited to. Even the market for mobile computing devices is characterized by the variety of the device types which are developed for many application areas. But the users convenience comes along with additional requirements for providers of mobile e-Business services: the various device types constitute a very inhomogeneous environment for front end software which needs to interact with the users. Hence, there is the demand for a common runtime environment and also for a system which automatically adapts interaction data to different kinds of user interfaces. To describe an interfaces once and to use it for multiple devices reduces the effort on interface development, regarding the support of the various device types. In this paper a system is described, which automatically generates interfaces for various devices from an abstract dialog language. |
