Paper Abstract:
|
This study investigates how retail investors use investment information sources, especially the roles of social networks and from the angle of social capital and technology readiness. Investors, especially those with high-risk profile, use a mixture of sources. Investors rely heavily on personal sources, especially offline personal sources. Those with narrow offline social capital approach family members while those with wide offline social capital also approach close friends and colleagues. Investors with online social capital can tap on online friends. Users of online sources are innovative in technology and transact online. Younger investors are more likely to seek advice from online friends. |
