Paper Abstract:      In this article we report and analyze a lightweight framework for implementing data-driven visualizations based on a network of heterogeneous Internet data sources. We describe the basic concepts of technical information management, the suitable visualization categories, and outline a concrete, work-in-progress visualization system with a case example. Our approach is practically oriented. In brief, we capture and demonstrate the key ingredients of a realistic, distributed, and data-driven visualization system. The motivation and the main use cases for the work stem from a European network of excellence thriving to establish an open knowledge system, based on the ideology of open source communities.
