Paper Abstract:
|
For some time now, work teams have increasingly had to deal with spatial and temporal dislocation. This has led the CSCW (Computer Supported Collaborative Work) community to search for ways to support dispersed teams with software environments that ease their problems. In our work, we followed the route of text-based Virtual Environments because they integrate a variety of functions needed by work teams and complement them with end-user extendibility and customizability. The challenge presented by dispersed teams has recently been made even more difficult because many users now use mobile devices as one of their work platforms and rely on them for communication and limited access to documents. To our knowledge, this new challenge has not been widely addressed in known CSCW environments and our paper deals with our first results in this area. |
