Paper Abstract:
|
In a multimedia server, caching is an effective way to improve the performance of multimedia streaming services. Existing studies have shown that interval based caching and its extension for considering different video popularity performs well for various streaming environments. Although there are a lot of studies for multimedia streaming services, they do not consider the playback pattern of the streaming service. In this paper, we propose the novel buffer cache management scheme that considers the playback patterns of the multimedia streaming service. We have conducted trace driven simulations with real world VOD traces, and have shown that the proposed buffer cache management scheme improves the performance of the multimedia streaming services. |
