Paper Abstract:      A mashup is a web page or application that uses and combines data, presentation or functionality from two or more sources to create new services. Many mashup tools have been developed to create new services. The growth in the diversity and popularity of web services on the Internet is making mashups increasingly common, while the rise of iPhones and smartphones running the Android operating system is providing new platforms for mashups. Smartphones can be closely tailored to the user’s lifestyle, and used to acquire a wide range of user real-world information—a term used in this paper to refer to user status or area information. While today’s mashups mainly process information acquired from the Internet, the recent rise in popularity of smartphones should result in more mashups that process real-world information. This paper examines the current problems with creating mashups that process real-world information, and methods of solving them. One problem is the server dependency of today’s mashup schemes. To solve this problem, mashup providers need to shift mashup schemes from the server to the mobile client. Enabling users to create mashups on smartphones will facilitate the acquisition of user real-world information. This paper describes a mobile mashup scheme that enables flexible web service integration on mobile clients.
