Paper Abstract:
|
A learner model in a reading tutor is a very important thing. It aims at helping to teach the reading to a child as close as
possible the knowledge of that child. A learner model is a set of information about the child the system has. From this
learner model the system plans lessons as close as possible of the child until this one acquires all knowledge and
capabilities he has to. In our agent-based reading tutor named AMICAL, a particular agent manages this learner model. It
means that this agent plays two roles: firstly it builds the model and secondly it answers questions from the other agents
of the system. Building a learner model consists basically in making hypotheses from the interactions between the system
and the child and updating the previous version of the learner model with those hypotheses. The learner model manager
agent is in fact a recursive agent decomposed into two main subagents where each subagent has its own function. This
paper aims at presenting this learner model manager agent and the building process of the learner model. |
