Paper Abstract:	This work is about collaborative learning and groupware application domain within the context of e-learning systems, which aims at supporting educational activities on the Web. Here, we have addressed problems in the context of requirements elicitation focusing on the group work, aiming at helping a given client (author or pedagogical designer) to understand his needs in terms of design decisions, and then to assist him to select characteristics and functionalities for composing his intended and customized groupware solution expressed in requirement document using a concept map as a visual representation. Hence, we first proposed a conceptual reference model based on 3C collaboration model, as a representation facility specially oriented to the author. Then, to achieve this aim, in this paper we propose a knowledge-based assistance system to interact with the author, providing him with facilities for understanding and identifying his needs in terms of design decisions to compose a set of functional requirements to be part of the customized group work solution within the adopted e-learning system. Therefore, as an output, the system will recommend a set of services to the author. The proposed approach has been evaluated in the task of constructing a specific group work solution, where the concept model and the assistant have demonstrated positive results in terms of the adequacy of the suggestions that it provides.
