Paper Abstract:      Over the past many decades, Industrial Process Monitoring And Control (IPMAC) has been through many stages of development. From point-to-point networking it has evolved into common bus architecture. Over the past few years, development in wireless communications, radio-equipped sensors, remote management of networks etc. have deeply influenced the industrial communication scenario. Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are also beginning to have an impact on current IPMAC scenario. In this work, we propose a vendor and technology-neutral, interoperable, hybrid and scalable IPMAC architecture capable of smoothly adopting WSN. Our proposed architecture does not clash with any of the legacy IPMAC infrastructures, rather it builds upon them.
