Paper Abstract:
|
Risk management for preventing infectious disease outbreaks requires spatiotemporal surveys of disease incidents and providing forecasts supports risk management and effective intervention against outbreaks. The purpose of this article is to introduce a web-based computer system designed to help medical personnel monitor and predict the spread of infectious disease in Japan. The main feature of this system is that it automatically creates animation or graphic images for visualizing spatiotemporal patterns of infectious diseases using Rich Internet Application (RIA) and Hypertext Markup Language Version 5 (HTML5) according to the users requirements. Moreover, the system has the function of predicting up to four weeks after common infectious diseases based on a suitable statistical forecasting model. We believe the system will be a useful tool for risk management of infectious disease outbreaks. |
