Paper Abstract:
|
Healthcare professionals are facing a growing demand for both clinical and administrative information to improve their practice and comply with top-management decisions. In the past, each hospital tried to address this need in different ways, duplicating efforts and creating heterogeneity in terms of indicators. As a Shared Services organization working for the National Health Service (NHS), a project was put in place to envision and develop a clinical indicator Business intelligence (BI) platform that could provide health professionals with safe and efficient access to activity data in a crowdsource model for more than 50 hospitals. With such a model, it was intended to create a living system that could include several hospitals in its development and respond to the need for continuous improvement, research, national standardization of catalogues and indicators and information security with the goal of improving care practice and providing patient cantered care. More than 200 metrics are available today with the contribution of healthcare professionals that can address their demand of having an easy access BI platform. By opposition to other projects, this platform targets primarily health professionals, instead of top management. The preliminary results show a considerable interest in using this platform due to its good user experience in accessing several indicators, as well as actionable insights for the daily practice enabling patient care improvement. |
