Paper Abstract:
|
The paper reports on a conceptual framework for the development of Internet-Based Systematic Instructional Design
Assistance that is intended for use in the development of print-based self-learning materials for distance education
learners. The conceptual framework consists of three main elements, namely, the instructional design principle, subject
contents and collaboration among members of the course content development team. The combination of these elements
results in a collaborative social workspace for the collective use of the subject matter expert (content writer), instructional
designer, graphics artist, editor and administrator to effectively develop the self-learning materials. The team members
play their role within the single workspace, thus eliminating the physical transfer of documents from one member to
another member of the team during the entire developmental process of the self-learning materials. The developed
system based on the proposed conceptual framework should allow for an effective production of self-learning materials
that abide by, and conform to, the instructional design principles and at the same time, should help in reducing the
turnaround time in the development of such learning materials. |
