Paper Abstract:
|
This paper aims to evaluate the current status of e-business applications among mainland Chinese companies, by
comparisons with leading international companies, and comparisons among Chinese companies of different sizes,
regions, and business types. This research is, as far as we know, the first systematic study of this type on mainland
Chinese companies. The method and process we proposed and used in the research can be applied, in principle, to many
other industry sectors. The data conforms the perception that even the best Chinese companies lag behind leading
international companies; national companies perform better than regional ones, who in turn perform better than small
companies; the eastern (coastal) region perform (a little surprisingly) as well as major cites while the central and western
regions are furthest behind; general software companies perform better than application-specific, domain-specific and
integration companies. |
