Paper Abstract:
|
This paper is a case study of examining the specific game-based interactive picture book through the ARCS motivation model developed by John Keller. Research subjects within this study comprised eleven 12-year-old primary school students with experiences in using electronic books for learning purposes. By using questionnaires and interviews, students views on attention relevance, confidence and satisfaction strategies used in the specific game-based interactive picture book were analysed. Findings from this study reflect upon the importance of catching studentsÂ’ attention in the very beginning of the learning process. The present study confirms that the ARCS motivation model could serve as the useful base for designing and evaluating the game-based learning system or platform. |
