Paper Abstract:
|
This paper reports the latest results of an ongoing research conducted to systematically verify findings of previous researches and to address some related issues that were overlooked in those researches. A recent study suggested the use of the elements of balance, unity, and sequence of screen layout as part of a computational model of interface aesthetic. It argued that these three elements are the most contributed terms in the model. In the current study, a controlled experiment was designed and conducted to investigate the effects of these three elements (balance, unity, and sequence) on interface aesthetic. Results confirmed finding of previous researches, the three elements have significant effects on the perceived interface aesthetics. Significant interactions were also found among the three elements. Implications of results and potentials extensions for future work are also discussed. |
