This paper aims to investigate how Semantic Web adoption can affect design patterns for distributed applications. A
formal approach based on LOTOS was adopted as a means for a better comprehension of complex and dynamic behavior
of semantic applications. The starting point for this investigation concerns well-know patterns that are commonly used in
