Paper Abstract:
|
A framework for tracking and assessment of the evolution of curricula at a diverse institution is proposed (ranging from a single educational departmental-level organization to the scale of an integrated university) and the evaluation of a prototype system implementation of such a framework is discussed. The effort builds upon the conceptual integration of two approaches to analysis of curriculum structure that have been used in the past curriculum mapping for investigating possible duplicate topics in the knowledge coverage of a certain discipline, or gaps in the knowledge coverage of that discipline that students might have, against evolutionary curriculum reconstruction where a day-to-day process is introduced to manage revisions and changes during curriculum reconstruction. This proposal extends the existing practices on a long-term time-scale and can be used to analyse and cross-check in more depth the differences and effects of curriculum development efforts in the history of a single institution, or even be used to analyse and compare differences and effects of curriculum development efforts across many partner institutions. |
